The state park is a rustic neighbor of the national park. We went to visit the living history farm and enjoy a picnic. Lesson learned : if you're going for the living history farm, go when they have a planned event. Otherwise it's several locked buildings and a cranky rooster. The short hike to the lake is pretty and an easy hike. The picnic site is home to a large contingency of geese that don't like to share living space. Knowing better, I would park at the lake and hike to the farm and back.

Clean campground. Level campsites. Everyone was respectful of quiet hours. Playground and swings were an added bonus for the kids!

The State Park was great to visit, lots to do and see and was very pretty. When you finish at the State Park side move over to the National Park side. When you watch the video and see what our patriots did for us you will be truly humbled. Walk where many brave men died so we could have a free nation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend a visit to this historic place.

Awesome place! Love coming here on family weekend trips... camping is also very fun. Hot water is consistent, never have had a problem with it the many times I have camped here. There is a curve in RV camping that we found hard to drive around. So watch for it if you are on the large end of RVs. Hiking is good. There are varying difficulties for different experienced hikers. For those who want a quiet, easy hike, the lake trail is great. Fishing there is also pretty good. Great place over all.

Unless their are other picnic areas and due to the geese, I would not suggest this park as good for picnics. The neighboring national park is a memorial site so there is no picnicking allowed there.

Great place for the family to go visit and enjoy a nice day out! Also a great place for some soul searching and getting into a peaceful state of mind.
